Birthday Retreat

Turning 33 is not a big deal to me, I still feel like I am 18. My wonderful husband took me to Park City for the night. A great way to beat the heat in the valley. We enjoyed the cooler weather and a wonderful dinner. We stayed at The Yarrow and just enjoyed each other. Marissa stayed home. Today we check out the outlet stores before heading home.

July News

Brett has being working on decks for the past couple of weekends. He built a deck for the neighbors and he repaired and painted his parent's back deck and now he is finishing the roof for Dad. I am just praying that I can keep Dad from putting windows in will post picture when complete.

Not much happen for the Fourth of July. I found out the night before that I had to work on the holiday. Dad did a BBQ and Judi, Ann and Taryn come over. We did some fireworks but the wind was a blowing. Marissa went with her dad the next for the rest of the weekend.

Marissa just got home today from camping with her Girl Scout Troop for 4 days. They went to Granite Flat in American Fork Canyon. They visited Cascade Springs and Silver Lake. Marissa painted a hat and a stepping stone. For Marissa to advance to Cadet Level she and one other girl had to cook breakfast for everyone. Here are some picture Marissa took camping.

Summer Time, Again

Summer is here and Marissa is enjoying it so far, she spent a week with her grandparents from Michigan, they were in town for two weeks. She enjoyed time with them. She also has her first official event as a EJH Student Representative, Marissa with be in the Taylorsville Dayzz Parade on June 28, 2008, also on that day her Girl Scout Troop is hold a Powder Puff Derby(pine wood derby race.) We have a busy day coming up.

Brett and his brother did a Harley ride on Sunday, I think it is a tradition that will last as long as Brian works for Harper. For every year Harper employee do a Harley Ride, this year they went through Skull Valley over to Eureka then down to Nephi and back up through Payson and ended at Cabella's in American Fork. Brett dreams of having a Harley, he might just have to wait until we move to Hawaii(six years.)

First Recital

Marissa had her first piano recital yesterday. It was held at the Golden Living Center. She started piano with Brenda in January 2008. She has enjoyed playing and is going to continue going to lessons. She had decided not to continue with viola next year, so I will be returning her viola after her last concert for orchestra.

Oasis!!!

Yesterday the family went to the Sand Dunes and let the kids play on the 4-wheelers. We chilled the best we could, since the temperature was probably between 80-90 degrees, at the Oasis campground. Savannah, Nick, and Marissa did not seem to mind the heat for all of them were on the 4 wheelers the whole time. Marissa enjoy zooming around on her bike and getting more ride time in, I doubt she was off the machine for more than 2 hours(which was when we made her stop and get some water or food) the whole time we were there. We arrived at the Oasis about 11 am and left there at 9pm.

Taking Office!!!!! Marissa has won EJH S.B.O 7th grade Representative

Marissa has been a very busy young women since my last post. She sold 1000 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies, registering for Eisenhower Junior High for next year, running for 2008-2009 S.B.O 7th Grade Representative. She is also preparing for a piano recital in May and keeping up her grades up for her final trimester at Taylorsville Elementary. She received all A's for the second trimester of the year. She also has safety patrol every other week and she just received an A for you country report on China. I still can believe that she is turning twelve this year and going to junior high. It seems just yesterday she was learning to walk and talk. Now she is also talking and on the go. Time flies by too fast.

We just found out tonight that she won one of four seats for EJH S.B.O 7th Grade Representative. She sets her mind to something she that will go for it. I am very proud of her.

Dad is doing good, however I believe right now he is fighting a sinus infection. He recently bought a new truck so the count of vehicles in front of our house is Brett's three, Dad's two plus the travel trailer and Christie's one. Here are a couple of pictures of the newest truck.

Science Fair

Marissa participate in the school Science Fair this year. Her project was titled "Clean School vs. Dirty Bacteria, Is It Really Clean?" Marissa swab three items dirty and then cleaned them and swabbed them again and put the swabs on agar plates to watch the bacteria grow. Here is a picture of your display.


Marissa really enjoy working on this project she learned that even though it is clean there is still environmental bacteria that grows.

News

It has been awhile since I post, but really there is nothing really news worthy. But here it goes. The holiday have now past and we are starting a new year. Thanksgiving and Christmas were good and family was all around. Marissa recieved straight A's for her first trimester of sixth grade that ended in November. For Christmas Brett built Marissa a loft bed(she loves it). We also repainted the bathroom last weekend. Marissa is now working on her science fair project which involves bacteria.

Marissa is keeping busy with Girl Scout and she also has started piano lessons. It is cookie time for Girl Scout, so the selling has started. The troop is working on saving money for Disneyland in 2009 all cookie revenue for the troop is going towards the trip. She also has a new haircut.

Halloween is already here, just a reminder that Christmas is just around the corner.

Okay here goes nothing. 1. What was I doing ten years ago?

Ten years ago I was a single parent, Marissa had just turned one in August, she had 3 stitches in her eye in October because she mastering walking and stumbled at Aunt Debbie's. I was working as Sconecutter as an Assistant Manager. I was finalizing custody agreement with Marissa's dad and he started see her again after almost a year. I meet Brett for the first time in August.

2. What was I doing 5 years ago?

Five years ago I just started working at ARUP Labortories and bought a new car and was still single. Marissa was in the first grade and started Girl Scouts. Brett was living with us as a roommate at the time. Nothing much was exciting five years ago.

3. What was I doing a year ago?

This one is easy I was in Hawaii and was just married and was also there when a earthquake happened. Hawaii was beautiful. The day we got married we were at Fleming Beach on Maui 4 hour before the ceremony. Here is a picture of Marissa and her sand castle that day.



4. What was I doing yesterday?

Yesterday, I my first anniversary to Brett, we didn't do nothing to special. We helped his niece moved. Marissa was with her dad and she went four-wheeling at the Sand dunes. I did laundry and went shopping for a shirt for Tim's graduation.

5. 5 Ways I would spend a million?

First I would pay my debt and pay my dad's house off and put money aside for Marissa college and a little for savings, and then probably move to Hawaii.

6. 5 Locations I'd run off to.

Tough one, anywhere where it is warm but not scorching hot or cold. I really don't have any specific place I would want to go but back to Hawaii. Boring I know but that is me.

7. 5 Bad habits.

Well the first bad habit would have to be my smoking, second bad habit would be not having enough patience when dealing with Marissa. Third, not cooking. I am not sure what else there is?? I think some more and add 2 more later.

8. 5 things I like doing

1) Enjoy Marissa and see how she has grown up so fast.
2) Spending time with Brett
3) Reading
4) Relaxing in the bath tub and finally
5) Enjoy my days off from work.

9. 5 TV Shows I like

Well I enjoy all the CSI's, One Tree Hill, Home Extreme Makeover, One Tree Hill, and Brothers and Sisters. There are many more but those are the top five.

10. 5 things I hate

Repeating myself to Marissa trying to get her to move. Driving!!! Cooking, I can not stand the smell of fried oil, working I wish I could stay and home and be there for Marissa when she gets home from school and finally, I hate mornings I am not a morning person.
